Xiaomi Mi A1 a True Beast? Check Out This and Know Yourself!

Xiaomi in a recent event launched its new flagship device, Xiaomi A1, under the series of Android One phones. It is Xiaomi’s first budget phone with a dual camera feature and it’s their first phone to run on stock Android software, ditching the usual MiUi made by Xiaomi itself.
The Mi A1 smartphone is priced at Rs 14,999. The smartphone will be available via both offline and online channels and will go on sale starting September 12 at 12:00PM. The smartphone will be up for grabs via Flipkart and mi.com for the online market. However, the smartphone will also be available at Mi Homes stores starting the same day.

The phone features a 5.5inch IPS LCD display with a pixel density of 403ppi. It supports a resolution of 1920×1080. The screen will be curved towards the edge as it features a 2.5D glass. It has a Adreno 506 GPU, which means a smooth gaming experience can be expected. Xiaomi cleared the air about the availability of Gorilla Glass for the first time on its budget phone.

The phone boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 64 bit octa core processor which clocks upto 2.0 GHz. It has 4GB DDR3 RAM, which is now a common feature for phones at this price. It has USB type C port, which is a fresh introduction at this price point. The speakers are located at the bottom of the phone. Thankfully, Xiaomi didn’t ditch the earphone jack.

The A1 runs a stock Android 7.1.2 (Nougat), which will be upgraded to Android Oreo 8.0 soon. Xiaomi has also promised to upgrade the phone to Android P, as soon as it is launched. As the phone is included under the Android One program, quick updates are promised, unlike other major brands.

The phone is the first Xiaomi budget phone to feature a dual camera. It sports a dual 12+12 Megapixel back camera with a f/2.2 and f/2.6 aperture respectively. It has a 2X optical zoom and 10x digital zoom. The secondary camera has a 5 megapixel lens with f/2.0 aperture. The dual camera is expected to click some great photographs having depth effects, similar to the One Plus 5.

The A1 has a 3080 mAh Li-Po battery, which can easily last a day and half with normal usage. As usual, the battery is non removable, but will support quick charging, thanks to the SD635 processor.

Xiaomi introduced only one storage option, the 64 GB variant, for the A1. It is expandable upto 128GB using a micro SD card. The dual SIM cards support 4G VoLte and 3G connectivity respectively. As usual, Xiaomi has provided a hybrid SIM slot for the SIM cards and memory card.

The phone has a finger print scanner on its back, right below the camera. It features a Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope and hall sensor. The compass seems to be surprisingly absent.

The phone is a bang for the buck, considering the awesome features Xiaomi has provided at this price point of Rs 14,999. This will be a tough competitor for the freshly launched Moto G5S Plus, priced at Rs15,999. It will be really interesting to see how well this phone performs in the Indian market.
